The ceremonies dedicated to Sainte Mary Sion in Axum represent the second most important pilgrimage in Ethiopia. Thousands of pilgrims meet in Axum for several days to pray together in an atmosphere of incredible recollection. The faithful come from all over the country.

Early in the morning, you will attend the gathering of pilgrims and the prayers. Then, dances and songs punctuated by the sound of tambourines take over. The pilgrimage to Sainte Marie de Sion in Axum will give you unforgettable moments. This event takes place at the end of November.

On this journey of discovery, you will visit the incomparable sites of Ethiopia’s historical route among which four sites are listed in the UNESCO World Heritage List, including: Axum, Lalibela, Gondar, the island of monasteries from Lake Tana, the palace of the Queen of Sheba.

Beyond the pilgrimage of Sainte Mary Sion in Axum, you will go to Lalibela. Black Jerusalem is known for its 11 rock-hewn churches. A very special atmosphere hovers over this city perched over 2,000 meters above sea level. Then the castles of Gondar, the bath of Fasilades and its magnificent church. Finally the monasteries of Lake Tana which house many treasures. To get there, you cross Lake Tana by private boat.
